Got another 20 minutes in this arvo, glued up the vent/reducer for the parrot and put a bottom in the parrot. Can't be fucked sorting out a fores drain yet, I'll just build another parrot/modify this oneif I ever get that keen.

image.jpg

Just need another 1/2" 90° and a piece of 3/4" and the parrot will be done :happy-partydance:

Eh Zac,
For the parrot drain just do what I did and use a 1/2" tee at the base of the parrot then a small tap can attach to the lower end. Simple as yet effective.

I've had another, less profitable, turn on the employment front, but it's given me a bit of time to get the HoG done :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Today I started at the bottom! Bryan was kind enough to donate a 3"-4" reducer that he had no use for. Only problem was that it was on the piss pretty hard. I started by sweating the 4" end out and cutting the 3" end shorter.

Theeeen I soldered a new easy flange ring onto the 3" end, and hard soldered a 4" ring onto a 30mm tall piece of 4". Sat the 3" end on my level soldering bench, and tapped the 4" end in until it was level. A quick lap of soft solder on the 4" end, and done!

image.jpg

Now I've got the reducer done and one plate section and the blockhead level.

image.jpg

And then I got keen and stacked the rest on top.

Gunna need to get onto that thumper to get the thing tall enough!

Started at the other end today!

Finished my PC

image.jpg

There's a pinhole leak that reappeared when I soldered the top 90° piece on. This is the third time I've tried this join, and I'm over it, so that's how it will stay for now until I get back home and make a new PC using only hard solder for all of the internal joins.

Then I finished my parrot

image.jpg

And finished opening up the 2" hole in the blockhead and stuck it together for a look

image.jpg

And this is what my cooling lines will end up looking like

image.jpg

I also cleaned and levelled up another plate module - 2 done, 3 to go.

Got another two plate modules level this morning, hopefully I can get the flanges back on them this arvo.

Then I need to cut a new 120mm RC shell, I don't want to use the piece I've already cut at 80mm and find out its not tall enough :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You could solder a thick piece of copper and tap it to 5mm thread or a 5mm nut onto the bottom of the parrot ,then use a 5mm bolt with silicone washer, like a sump plug ,remove to drain fores and replace the bolt for the rest of the run, will be cheap an easy ,just a thought mate ,hope the bad weather isnot blowing ya away.cheers hillzabilly :D

I'll worry about a fores drain later, maybe. Good idea though Billy :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Got some shit done today! First up I finished levelling up the last two plate modules, and made a cap for the top of the blockhead.

Then I got bored and made a gin basket for the blockhead -

image.jpg

Cut a 110mm piece of 4" for my RC and soldered the water fittings on - BSP on the bottom and SwageLok on the top so I can run this needle valve straight on the side of the RC

image.jpg

Cut the rest of my plates and soldered on the 40mm risers, and got a DC on one of them

image.jpg

image.jpg

Went for a 20mm bath depth.

Still need to drill a heap of holes in the bottom of the gin basket and work out how I'm going to hang it from the top cap.

Yeah they stayed pretty flat, so far at least :laughing-rolling:

Not sure if I want to solder the plate onto the module, or run 2 seals on each plate  I think I'll solder them in to minimise the possibility of leaks.

Love the screw on/off parrot. I'll have to unfolded mine.

Silver brazing the rc and pc made it so easy for the internals and on my pc I soft soldered the ends on in case I want to switch things up at a later date. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I silver soldered the internals on the PC, but the MAPP torch doesn't have enough grunt to solver solder the internals to to 2" shell. I should've just waited until I had access to an oxy.

One day I'll build another PC, I've got everything I need.

Got a bit more done this arvo.

Cut the ridge off of one of my gaskets for the blockhead cap. Had water sitting in it all day, I have a seal! :happy-partydance:

Flattened the 4" flange on the reducer/still mount because it was a bit on the piss.

Soldered the completed plate to one of the plate modules -

image.jpg

Drilled out the riser on the other 3 plates and got the second plate 99% finished before I run out of gas :angry-banghead:

Drilled my RC end plates - 19x 1/2" inners.

image.jpg

Starting to see the finish line!

All four plate modules complete, except for the sightglasses!

Cut another couple of rings for the easy flanges on the RC, now I'll cut and shape another 3 sightglass fishmouths and then it's pretty much done!

Plates done! 2 out of the 4 caps survived the plate being soldered into the module, I'll have to glue the other two back on after I cut the holes for the sightglasses.

image.jpg

And the fishmouths for the sightglasses marked up using the template -

image.jpg

Tomorrow I'll cut them to fit. All that remains is the RC!

I also need another couple of FSD bits, I've just realised. Will have to wait for a payday or two before I spend any coin though.
