Nice work. being as 4" RC what did you use to silver solder the RC internals? being it would have needed enough heat

regular map or oxy too?

Just MAPP, no oxy. You don't need that much heat, it's a 100mm plate full of holes and 100mm long 1/2" pipes. I'll soft solder the internals to the 4" shell.

Been away at work again this week, but I've got the rest of the FSD bits on order. Just a couple of clamps and seals.

I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a small, clear lantern glass for the carter head. All I can find is BCF selling them on eBay :angry-banghead:

Got another day up the hill booked in with Bryan to get the sightglasses done, should be ready to run in a couple of weeks!

I just want the glass itself, not a triclamp sightglass section. Mac only has bigger stuff, unfortunately.

I have been to 3 BCF's, 2 Anacondas, 2 Aussie Disposals, a Snowy's and some other camping shop. None have a small, clear, lantern glass. I spent more than the cost of the item trying to find one...

This is why we shop online :angry-banghead:

So when you take in account money spent driving around and looking for what you want, mabey $12 shipping wouldn't have been that bad.

I believe that mac can supply just the glass, i think he has for others, in the glasser threads funnily enough.

It's the principle of the thing!!! I've spent hundreds just to avoid stupid charges :laughing-rolling: not smart I know but it's the principle!!
Surely they can order one in for you, or like rum suggested, get them to order a few so you can select a good one.
Or can you mod your carter to have a 4"?

Eh Zac I'm heading into Mt Barker after lunch today today so I'll have a look for one for you and if I do find one I'll grab it. I wouldn't be surprised if the little hardware shop in Nairne has them too.

Cheers Bryan

All of the camping shops have the small lenses in frosted glass, just no clear ones!
