Polished red copper

Postby Nathan02 » Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:14 pm

My polished red copper tees have a lot of finger prints on them and green sulphide. How will the finish be effected chucking them into citric acid?

Cheers

A quick pickle in Sulphuric/Nitric Acid (10%) with 1:10 Hydrogen Peroxide will yield perfect results.

Then use a copper clear coat that contains Benzotriazole. Wattyl Incralac

citric will clean this off or simply use brasso or even silvo which is milder and polish it off with some elbow grease, the use Wattyl Incralac from the green shed, it will keep it clean and fingers no longer affect it.

I polished mine right up then let it get the patina looked great until I started getting the wet fingerprints on there swapping out my scrubbers.
I just used one of these to clean it up again. let it get hot and it darkens it up or spray with that Wattyl clear lacquer stuff https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/too ... 86601.html
