You cam use a jug element. The idea is to get a low density element though.

I understand the advice that weldless elements are a safety concern. This still leaves the original question.
How do you install an element into a SS Keg? how do you install an element onto a rounded surface period?

I have had a 2" ferrule welded to my keg and an adapter clamped on to that which has the element screwed into it via a 1"BSP thread. So long as you buy or manafacture a guard over the back of the element, you could simply have a 1"BSP thread welded on your keg. McStill has posted some options for it as well.

So for the simpleton like me, where do I buy an element necessary to heat my keg? This post has been helpful definitely. I have a mate who will do all the welding and every other part is sorted except the actual element. Links to the actual elements would be fantastic :-)

PM MacStill. He has 2400W elements with a 1" BSP thread on them. He also has a kit with the ferrule, clamps, element and shroud.

If you have time, go and have a look through the Five Star Distilling gear in the commercial vendors section. He has some awesome equipment for sale. This is the thread for the elements and guards. viewtopic.php?t=3942

Yes the elements I stock have stood the test of time, you'd be lucky to find better elsewhere :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I think you have answered your own question. With the amount of power your standard wiring is capable of delivering these days to big motor driven accessories I doubt your 2400W element is going to be a problem :handgestures-thumbupleft:
