Allways been somewhat taken with the SS wire bracing systems I've seen use on some minor building renos. The kind that has a lattice of tensile SS wire used to add a distinct look and some structural element to handrails, dividing fences, walkways etc.

More a trades question so please chip in if your familiar with this stuff.

I'd like to add a thin SS wire bracing for looks to my new column. I've found SS wire and crimps from fishing tackle places that looks to be the goods but I can't determine quality or grade btw.

Is there a guru supplier for this type of stuff? Really would like to have a chat before deciding.

Also can you get "mini" tensioners to suit small wire diameters?

Done a few wire balustrading. So cant comment on the smaller wire.

But it is used where there is contact with salt air all the time so its usually a good grade they do tarnish but if looked after should stay good.

What do you plan to use it for? as seems a bit of a pain on a still as you will need swagers and a swager clamp unless you use like a bolt up u shaped rod but that would look like crap

There are a few different systems for tensioning these. I haven't done any for yonks but one is turn buckle system and the other is, well I don't know what its called but the cable is connected to a threaded pin and that screws into a female threaded tube. you would have to talk to a building supplier to get them I'd think. A real building supplier like bianco's not bunnings and the like

You can hire crimpers, swagers, etc.

And Shop fitting suppliers mate, there is a shop shelving system like this. The tall Aluminium piece is a tentioner, the other is a clamp which holds the cable and plate. the cable is about 2-3mm diameter.

Bunnings also have the said stainless steel wire
