I didn't want the old dip tube, so I ended up welding a bit of tube to the top. Made it pretty easy to open. Not so good if you want to reuse it, the rubber bit ended up catching on fire and geeze it stinks.

Is it a castlemaine Perkins keg? I got one a while back and after getting the spear out (via pointy nose pliers in the top seal) I noticed that I couldn't unscrew like other similar keg. The only way to make it usable would be to remove the post there and weld in your own ferrule to suit whatever size your still is. However I've heard the older castlemaine kegs can unscrew. Sorry to be bearer of bad news

Try simply stainless at everton park
he does a good job
I have used him a few times now for stainless welding my keg
