Orange Sticle

Postby Linno » Wed Dec 19, 2012 8:58 am

I found this on the interweb somewhere and tried it out, got a big thumbs up from everyone who tried it and i am sure this will make its way to tried and proven. its a variation of the baileys style recipe. i changed a couplo things but i will post it as i found it first

2 cups of 40% ABV neutral
rind from a large orange, do not use pith
juice from same orange
macerate together for 2-3 hours or until alcohol takes on strong flavorful orange flavour
strain through coarse filter

in the blender, mix in order
3 fluffy whipped eggs
1 can condensed milk
1 cup of thin cream or half thick cream half milk
1 tsp vanilla extract or 1/4 vanilla bean
2 cups orange masceration
can add food colouring for orange colour.

i found this scales really well, i dont mix the orange jiuce in until after i have soaked the rind in the nuetral overnight. I didnt bother with the food coloring.
i am going to add some choc topping to my next batch to make it like jaffas.

Enjoy

I am new to cream / egg based spirits, but this looks tasty. My question is shelf life. Based on raw ingredients (eggs) I assume this is a consume not long after production?

Gday Lupus

you are right they must have a shelf life, but i am not sure how long. Some people say that these style recipes get better after a couple of weeks of sitting. i have never kept one more than a month and are always refrigerated.
