We've tried coffee filters which cost like $5 for 10 filters... ;-)
Once they ran out we tried paper towel. We were shocked that they were better than the coffee filters!! And a shed-loads cheaper!!

HI All,
I started off with 60%, added sugar along the way, etc. When I stuck the alcometer in the finished (strained) product it read 0%. I'm thinking WTF it's definitely got an alcohol smell about it? Any ideas?

by adding sugar and stuff youve changed the sg so your alc meter wont read..

I've just done this batch for the first time, found a similar thing. I just used the calculator to work it out that I had 1L of 65% and wanted it around 30% :handgestures-thumbupleft:

thats how i do mine... known volume and abv at start for a known volume at the end... i aim for 40%abv at the finish, 700ml final product per mason jar of fruit.

Hi guys,
I've been giving this recipe a shot while I wait for my still to arrived. Used 45% vodka, drained off the vodka from the strawberries then covered with sugar. Problem since is that there has been a steady build up for undissolved sugar at the bottom. Topped up 3 times does that mean it is now spent? Heavy shaking and stirring doesn't seem to help it disolve either. Thanks.

Sounds like it's spent mate, I usually start at 60% as higher ang may help to dissolve sugars, just strain and eat all leftovers with ice cream :)) :handgestures-thumbupleft:

OK, it's Strawberry season and I can pick up a metric fucktonne of strawbs for bugger all :teasing-tease:

My question to fellow members is, having smashed the G Dropper for the last few seasons, does anyone have any other booze related recipes for strawberries?

I'd love to hear them
