Yeah bloody scary alright.

Here's a wired element showing the earth lug.

You need to earth the element using a 3 core cable, the earth must be connected to the earth lug provided on the element guard

The so called sparky that wired those of yours Beer Belly needs a good kick in the balls :teasing-nutkick:

Just about to order some elements from 5 star I'm a little confused..the element that come with the guard for $89 I'm assuming when my sparky wires it up the cord he puts on it will be contained with in the guard or will it need some sort of junction box

its a complete unit mate. the terminals are on the element itself, contained inside the clamp on guard (only cord, crimps and plug needed)

Don't the weld less elements have to be fitted to keg before wiring ? How do you fit a plug through a 32 mm hole? Or am I seeing it wrong?

The element is pulled through the 32mm hole from inside the keg nut screwed on to secure element then wired.

Bit late here but WOW, that is shoddy work and not the work of an electrician.

If you can be bothered, a call to your regulator or Dept. Business Affairs (not sure what you call it there) to report that would be a good idea and might save someones life.

It's all good mate, he's more than aware of his mistake :violence-smack: They have been fixed and work fine now.
