i got the 250k 1Watt pot from them, they had to manually check stock or something on their system as did not show online (was 6 months ago)

on page 2 under "specs"
http://docs-asia.electrocomponents.com/ ... 02e5aa.pdf

i used some bits of wire from a PC for the plug as it had very fine legs on the pot

i used a plug from a PC and the wires, i think it was a PC cooling fan plug ? not sure but it fitted nice :)

PSR-25
250k 1watt pot
heat sink of suitable size
heat sink fan and possibly power supply for fan
heavy duty power cabling (your especially going to need it for 4.8kw)
power plugs of your choice (you might want to consider those screw together 3 phase style plugs or hard wiring it all together )
earthing lugs on boiler
"power on light"
amp meter
suitable sized hobby box to install it all in

this is the PSR you want, you need to check that 25 amps is enough for 4800watss in your circumstances
they spec sheet has the pot you need, talk to RS via phone to confirm the right one

i used a 2nd hand heat sink from a PC motherboard and also a PC fan from my shed
i used a mobile phone charger to run fan from my shed

power cable and plugs from hardware or electrical wholesaler
power on light from jatcar etc (or other)
hobby box - i used tupperware type thing from kitchen

amp meter - i dont have one and am unsure of best model

have a good read back over the thread and look at the pics, they are fairly simple.

i cannot tell you how to build it really as if you die using it then your estate might sue me.... better to get a sparky / elec tech to help you a bit

oh and welcome to the site, forgot to say that before. (i am a ride prick :D )

to add to that just hooked it up it will keep a rolling boil in my kettle (2.4kw ) but the heat sink is live on it  it makes a buzzing sound but it seemed to work fine will do further testing some time soon but for cheap and easy it does the trick so far

bloody hell for all the cheap triacs they use a "live" one.... makes them dangerous for the most part.

if you get time can you estimate how much heat the heatsink is putting off, i reckon some cooling should sort it and help it last.

hey 8-ball your a typical sparky leving all the little bits of copper wire in the box :angry-banghead: lol
