Pot still design and discussion

The Tripod

Postby Panda » Fri Feb 24, 2012 1:59 pm

This may be the stupidest thing ever posted on this forum.

If one has easy access to scrap pipe and kegs (and did not want to pay for a large vessel) would this design give them a functional and practical 150litre stipping pot?

In basic detail excluding unions, leangths and element size ect.
3x kegs with element in each
2x 4inch stainless between kegs to keep liquid level and pressure same and to help even out temps
2 inch copper from each keg at 45 angle and meeting at a 4 inch columb

Good or have I sampled too much fores?

Hi Panda,
if i had access to the supplies as youve suggested, i would probably put the 3 kegs inline like a thumper set up.
but it all depends on what your trying to produce ;-)
just my personal opinion :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You could cut and weld the kegs together to form a super keg

It's cheaper and easier just to have 3 keg stills isnt it?

So spectacularly redundant

If they were really close to each other and you could run one massive burner underneath it would make more sense.

If one were to announce on "the other forum" they were building this still, what feedback could one expect?
