Valve size

Postby C2H6O » Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:49 am

Hi guys,

Just a quick question, I have been trying to modify my old still and turn it into a VM/LM. With regards to the VM, It is a 2” column that has a T with a reducer on the output side that takes it to 1.5”, I have dug up an old ½” SS gate valve, what are people’s opinion on using this? Will this work or is it to small? What size is recommended here?

Thanks again

personally I think it's a bit small, every 2" VM I've built I used a minimum of 3/4" for the valve :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers for that Mac, figured this might be the case.

Would anyone be able to suggest where i could find a stainless gate valve either 1.5" or 1" and then a SS 1.5 female to 1"male reducer?
I have been to all the local plumbing suppliers and they only stock brass. Ebay seems to be a reasonable price but i would prefer not to wait the month postage from China..

Cheers
