A coupling works just as well but youll need to solder a 1" in the middle. Take a look at my 2" bubbler build and you'll see what I mean.
Works a treat and gives you somewhere to put your thermometer as well. Best is mo naffing around with reducers. Just a single coupling.

I've got 18m sitting there, should be more than enough :laughing-rolling:
I've done some coils in 1/2" before for HERMs coils and chillers, hopefully it turns out ok

That was another thought, just make the centre disc big enough to sit on the ridge in the middle of the coupling
Will probably just have to braze the disc and possibly the outlet
Shouldn't be a problem though, this will make soldering everything else a lot easier
Looks like we have a new breed (or just a slightly simpler version) of the Boka evolving here

Tradelink Muswellbrook don't keep anything larger than 2" in stock :angry-banghead:
Looks like I won't be soldering anything this weekend

Well, I've finally pulled my finger out and finished my boka
The only thing left to do is add some tube after the needle valve, then do the vinegar/sacrifical runs :happy-partydance:
I did make a small liebig for it, not sure if I'll use it or not
Didn't notice until after I took the photos that I'd put the temp port on the opposite side from where I'd meant to, that's what I get for rushing to finish it off ~x(

The collection plate before I soldered it into the head

The Mrs wasn't too happy about me poking it through there to run, but we'll see how it goes
I'll probably have to run it out the back of the house if I want to recirculate water from the rain tank, unless I buy a couple of really long hoses and poke them out the garage window

seriously thinking about making a gin basket for it, I've got a big roll of fairly fine SS mesh (my late dad used it for cone screens :)) )
Only thing is soldering SS mesh to copper/itself, how the hell do you do it?
I don't think my soldering iron would be powerful enough
I think soft soldering would be too bloody hard, I've had a quick go at it before and it dissipates heat so quickly you need to heat the direct area you're soldering, so it'd get too dirty/contaminated
maybe it might have to be brazed? otherwise stitching with fine SS wire might have to be the go

Currently pricing up running some 12mm irrigation pipe from the tap for the tank out the back of our house, to the garage, then another line back to top of the tank
Should cost me $60 all up, but means I'll have access to cooling water in the garage away from prying eyes
Also means I can hopefully use tank water for fermenting too without having to cart it through the house 20L at a time
