Not sure about bokas but would a 600 to 800 packed section be the go.
Any one have more experience on bokas can shime in

How are you going to stop vapour dripping back down the column? Im only asking as I have a reducer boka and wondered if I can take anything from your solution. I made a little hood to go over my vapour outlet.

Nays_shine ya lil hoody looks awesome i was goin to pack ss scrubbers around my condensor coil and have it goin to the side

I tig welded my reducer boka head to a 1300mm section today with milk fittin at the base as per my boiler and ferrules to join head to packed section

I purchased a t500 digi thermo made a holder for it and cut the bits for a pc its only small 300mm x 25 but i hope itll knock some of the heat down

Well im happy with my results shes a but tall but she goes hard i had never run a boka before and i must admit i was worried on the vinegar run when in full reflux my digi thermo was reading 98 c to 100 c how iam i hoin to cool it down but once i started my sacrifictial spirit run it was clear the will be no such problems with the coolin water on and both elements (3600w) goin and take valve closed the temp on my thermo was 78.1 i collected maybe four liters of 93% and then the temp started to rise up to 81 and abv fell alot easier to use than my lil relfux still thats for sure

i was worried that the condensor coil i made wouldnt do the job but it was great the base of the boka head was hot and the top was cool to touch i did stretch out 3 ss scrubbers to go around the cold finger and my coils to try to create a larger cooling surface area

I also put a small pc on a lil ova a foot long and the temps recorded in my parrot where 23 deg c

I also wrapped her up in a towel for insulation until i can get some

Good ta here she is up and running and workin well ,pickling paste may help clean up the welds,all hands to the fermenters to feed her .cheers hillzabilly :music-deathmetal:

be carefull with th third world country stuff. Yes I go one to. At that price. Put it next a very expensive one and it waeighs heaps more, so whats it actually made of. Is there lead in the stainless mix its cast out off. I then stripped the tap down and the needle was from memory brass, and heavy . Any way I was very sus. So used the 10 times the price parker fluids one from the states and the cheap one for the drain on keg.
theres a reason its cheap.

Possibly the 3rd world valve might have been nickle plated brass.

Ill put a magnet on it n see if ut sticks

A magnet will only tell you if its mild steel... Not much good on brass...

I was advised by my supplier they're only a stainless body, everything else is mild steel ;-)

I havent stripped my tpw yet but im not sure how long i should hold reflux before i start takin off

Hows your still running Ben? I think I should take back some thoughts I offered earlier regarding the hood I was using. I thing this narrowed the opening too much and acted like a venturi, actually speeding up vapour significantly... Are you using anything to stop condensate going back down the column?
