Damn, great minds thinking alike. I had just come inside after stuffing a little mesh in there and saw your post. :handgestures-thumbupleft: I will be putting a cap on of some sort too, mainly so I can mount a thermometer with an over-temperature alarm up there, but keeping crap out will be a bonus.

I've got a heap of heads and tails will that do for a final cleaning run?

IT WERKS!!!!! :D :happy-partydance:

No leaks, no fuss, it just sits there trickling out 95%. Quite a pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon, Gas quietly hissing, distillate trickling, fermenters bubbling, very relaxing.

I do have a problem though, what to make next? Definitely a pot still, a bubbler? The thought of an all glass reflux still is appealing just for the build challenge.

The next build has to be a bubbler, you won't regret it :music-deathmetal:

Good stuff mate.

Definitely go for a bubbler next, if you think watching a Boka is a move way to spend and arvo, wait til you've got 4 plates loaded up and 90% whiskey spitting out at 2-3L an hour!

Hmm looks like a bubbler is the go then. Lots of research coming up. :-B

On another note I am a newbie and wanted to perfect making a neutral spirits before I moved onto more advanced stuff. Then I got handed a shot of Smirnoff on Saturday night. Nearly spat it out. People drink that shit? :wtf: It tasted like the heads I've been using as window cleaner.

Just did a complete costing:

3 complete 2 inch sanitary unions. $29
2 19-15mm reducing tees @$4.25ea = $8.50
2 15mm coupling @ $1.25 ea = $2.50
2 15mm tees @$1.05 each = $2.10
6m of 1/2 inch = $31.90
1.5m of 3/4 inch = $17.90
brass 2 way hose coupling $5.97
pot scrubbers $8.00
bit of stainless allthread $3.66

The 2 inch was free and I used stuff all solder and flux so that gives a grand total of....

$109.53 Not too bad for a "damn the money build it perfect" build methinks. and I've still got lots of 3/4 and 1/2 inch leftover. :happy-partydance:

My first one was:

1/4 inch pipe $19.00
packet of scrubs $8.00
15mm tee $1.05
15mm coupling $1.25
+ 20mm of scrap copper rod and a found stainless bolt.
Grand total: $29.30 + free 2 inch pipe. Damn. Thought I spent a lot more than that.

Have a look at viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8208 then you can just add plates and a reflux condencer, you could also use a blockhead tee on top of this design if height is a problem its cheaper too and will allow the use of a gin basket if needed in the future, happy stillin.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:
