How often should you repack your colum?

Hi have a 25L ultra pure distilling rig (called "Spirit maker" these days)... I was just thinking it might be time for a spring clean...

I normally just put it upside down in the still with a few cups of vinegar to clean the packing material, but I was wondering whether it might be time for a re-pack. I have had it for about 6 years now and have never replaced the packing... (still runs fine).

What's the packing made of? Depending on material a soak may be enough..things like ceramic and scoria need to be replaced copper and stainless not so much. And citric /vinegar bath may be all that a needed..

Its Stainless... it has a bit of discolouration... so might soak it longer this time...

How much citrix acid would you put in 25L?

3-4 tablespoons. I never really measure. Just a decent sprinkle. Check it after 4ish hours see how fast it's working. I have a copper still and use scoria as packing :handgestures-thumbupleft:
