Will the condenser be a coil inside the sight glass or another module on top? What packing are you going to use? Is it 3"? How long? Sorry for the bombardment of questions 8-}

Posted: Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:11 pmYeah the coil will be in the sight glass which I am making a double coil cold finger 300mm long at the moment the sight glass is 400mm long and collum is 1100mm. And all 4inch

Posted: Thu Oct 24, 2019 7:36 pmYou'll save money if you use stainless scrubbers for most of the packing and just go with copper mesh top and bottom. Or maybe just on top. Do you have a plate on the bottom of the column to stop the packing pushing/falling through? Stainless scrubbers from bunnings are easy to shape to fit the column, and spread out nicely to fit 4". 3 pack of sabco scrubbers is $6.05. I fit 10 scrubbers nicely into my 330 mm packed section. Andrew's copper packing is top quality.

Posted: Wed Oct 30, 2019 5:57 amYou might need to pack some copper or stainless mesh around the coil to make sure everything gets condensed. Although it looks pretty cool, the mesh might spoil the look, at least put some at the top.
