as the title suggests what it the preferred height for a 2" vm colum

A good starting point would be 24" x column diameter for your packed column height :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If packed with structured mesh or stainless scrubbers the short answer is min 1200 mm of packing, max 1500 mm packing.
