Yeah mate built one of these a while back in 2", nice little rig that an old fella off HD bought.

All you need to do is put the branch in between the two reducers with a tee, then a gate valve or ball valve into a 90 bend down to your liebig.

Just done a quick mock up out in the shed for ya ;)

Note the temp port placement and how the reducer it's on wont allow pooling in the VM take off before the valve.

that's easy enough to build!,
what is the advantage of having the VM take off? :D

You should PM blanik about that question

VM is pretty cool but I never bothered to go to far with it, ran it a few times and built another LM still.

Thing is with a LM/VM combo you can run it so only hearts go through the VM side of it, and it will pretty much stop working when the ABV% starts to get low when your nearing tails, so you collect your heads & tails through the LM take off to reduce smearing.

If you want to get your LM rig up and running soon you can always add the VM later by leaving enough room between the reducers to cut it, and add the tee, valve & liebig at a later date ;)

on the reducer side of things....

You'll want file, grind, chew or with x-ray vision remove the lip on the small ends inside the reducers so the pipe slides straight through, leave about 10mm poking through the bottom as a centering ring, and poke the top through far enough so you get at least 60-80ml retained for take off.

I'll take a pic of the pot still mod I came up with that you add to the top of the pipe that comes through the top reducer, it wont effect performance in reflux mode but makes this design awesome as a pot still.

When you use this as a pot, you simply remove the column, remove & cap the liebig and run the thing for rums or what ever without tainting your VM :D

OK Fellas, the 2.5" double reducer,LM/VM combo is built! :D (pics to come soon)
now i just need a few lessons on how to drive this Mo Fo
I just did a cleaning run with Vinegar.
I had a bit coming thru the VM side but not much thru the LM side.
my thermo is set at the tee between the two reducers and basically went straight to 100 deg C (bloody hot)
will it run cooler with a wash going thru it or do i have to look at some sort of heating control for my 2200w element?

Once you put wash in the boiler it will run better, it went straight to 100c because that's what water boils at ;)

Cheers.
