Practicing...another 2" slant plate

So after much reading I decided to have a go at building a Boka...not that I'm really after neutrals. More as a learning piece as I've never worked with copper before.
Not being too keen to start with disaster I opted for a coil+cold finger rather than a dual wound coil.
I cut 3.3m of 1/4", filled it with water and crimped one end. On the other end I put a compression fitting/needle valve, connected it to the compressor @ 150psi then shut the valve and started winding (on a 30mm mandrel). Just quietly I was :D with the outcome.

The question now is, are the coils too close together?

Made a cold finger from some 3/4" and started to weld it up but ran out of Argon :angry-banghead: Going to try soldering it instead now.

So after an afternoon in the shed this is where I'm up to.

Progress may be a bit sporadic as SWMBO has me building a new fence AND redecorating a bedroom for our mid-June arrival.
There has also been talk of the water blasting, a new driveway, ...no wonder I need to build a still!

nice work. Yeah I find it hard to cram time in for my build with working 7 days a week and having a 2.5 year old daughter and trying to keep my stocks up :)) making me thirsty thinking about it

Looks the goods mate! I don't think that coil is too tight at all. Nice work :)

Got a bit more done.
Tig'd up the bottom of the cold finger then came the fun part, soldering the coil on.
Nearly did my head in. :angry-banghead:
In hindsight I would probably wind a double coil or have bent the bottom of this coil to suit a 90* join to the coldfinger whilst still filled with water.
Thankfully the plates and ports were a lot easier.

I'm a fan of Single Malts so once I find some 4" copper I have plans to make bubbles.

I was a chicken when I did mine and went for the double coil cause I thought it would be easier .Hats off for succeeding with this :handgestures-thumbupleft:
