My new 4" BOKA B)

Postby finners » Mon Jul 08, 2013 8:48 pm

Just wanted to show off my new toy, beautifully made for me by JayD ^:)^

4" Copper Boka, 1400mm to take off point (doesn't fit in my shed with the condensor on), cold finger and coil condensor, reduced to 2" to triclamp to std 50L keg. Planning on running it on a natural gas mongolian burner.

I'm still a newby and have a couple question to throw out to the more experienced:-

Was looking at making some clean neutral and are packing it with stainless scrubbers. Should I just pack the bottom column (900mm)? Or pack all the till just uder the takeoff point?

Also looking at insulating it with double thickness of 10mm camping mat, held on with aluminium tape. Do I insulate all the way up the column to the top, including condensor? Or just to the takeoff point?

Gotta vinegar cleaning run )unpacked and uninsulated to double check for any leaks) planned fortomorrow after work, then a 25ltr TPW sacrificial spirit run for the weekend or earlier if I get keen.

Addictive hobby :music-deathmetal:

Yep pack it to just below the takeoff and insulate the lot up to the take off, don't worry about the condenser :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It was a pleasure to be of service to you...enjoy your new hobby and keep safety paramount (fire extinguisher handy) and do your cuts good not being too greedy...only keep the best, re run any product that is substandard...here is some reading on the cuts procedure.Novice Guide to cuts by Kiwistiller

Nice still!

Question for JayD, out of interest what would the take-off rate for one of these things be?

during the distilled water run testing for leaks we were removing 300ml every 5 mins...hope this gives you an indication of its take off rate.
