Do they make a 3000W standard? thought all the HBS rigs only had 1 element?
Also...Turbo?..... :laughing-rolling:

Fuzzybear wrote: Yes the 3kw has two elements and it does stipulate to use 2 power points no double adapter or power boards

OK that's a relief, but you do realise those two power points (if in the same room) could possibly on the same circuit ;-) so you could in fact be overloading it ;-) as long as you run an extension lead from a separate room you should be fine :smile:Fuzzybear wrote:A Bloke has to start somewhere !!!
Of course you do, and we would like to help you do it all safely, comfortably & a lot cheaper than the turbo way, while producing better quality spirits :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Cheers.
SBB wrote:Fuzzy I did a quick google for your still and found a few photos. Im guessing this is it.
I dont wanna sound negative but in my opinion its not the best of stills.Fuzzybear wrote:First of all I did follow the instructions manual to the letter (or at-least I think I did)
Unless things have changed the instructions to run those stills are basic at best. Somewhere out there are better instructions, at the moment I cant be knackered finding them.Fuzzybear wrote:I used the prescribed amount of dextrose with turbo yeast (I am in the tropics)
Neither Dextrose or Turbo yeast are the best of choices, and it really doesn't matter if your in the tropics or Antarctica, wont make a difference.
I suggest you look at the tried a proven recipe section, TPW and a few other washes there will meet your needs and be cheaper and better in tasteFuzzybear wrote:So have i overlooked something or the instruction manual misleading /incomplete. :?
Reading up on "cuts" and putting into practice what you learn, will help no end, as will using washes that don't require a trip to the local homebrew shop. That is just the beginning, distilling is a lot more complex that it seems in the beginning, or at least doing it well is. Don't be put of by that , its a very interesting journey and hobby.
Yummyrum wrote::text-imwithstupid: ....well actually hes not studip...hes very correct.
I'll also leave that point alone
I have a similar still to the one you have ....asuming it is the one SBB pictured.
You are quite correct..you can only run these on a single 1400 w element.even then , they are running to fast.As you found ,the cooling system can bearly keep up with it.
You have done everything right but you should look into doing doble distilling .It madw a huge difference to me
TheMechwarrior wrote:Welcome mate and don't worry about everyone bagging you out for the Turbo, if it works for you keep doing it.
I'm currently using turbo, it makes a product and I'm happy to drink it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please STOP BASHING every turbo user that comes in here.
If you think there's a better method then I'm sure there's a more polite way of getting your opinion across than saying a turbo should be made illegal blah blah blah..end of rant.
Lets drink.
