On this topic I had never heard of any of these different types before I got on here but my question is...

My still will come under the heading of cooling management but the way I run it is to vary the heat coming off the burner to control the temperature.

I know now that this is probably not the best way to do it but I think I will still need to keep doing it this way because of the design.

Any thoughts?

There is a 4th class of columns called Power Management.

As explained above, by adjusting the heat input. A pot still would be a good example.

Not something you'd go out to build as a reflux still unless you had a specific application for it.

So whats the best for reflux stills and whats the best for pot stills?

A pot still is a pot still.


I think VM is the best solution for me as far as reflux stills goes.
