The T500 temp gauges are stuffed
The bottom one is cracked and showing 10 degrees more than the top one. I think the heat over time has got to it making them brittle. Not like thay were fantastic new may I add.
So i thought id piss them off and I forgot no shops open at all over the easter break where I can get replacements. So I plugged the two probe holes up and I will monitor the outlet water by using a hand held laser thermometer. I ran water through the still and seems it will be easy enough to do it.
If she works fine I doubt I will buy new ones as thay are $25 a hit.
Need to get this pot still going me thinks

its not the end of the world if your going to strip and wash, mind you.... if you have ran your still heaps then you could probably run it with your eyes shut

But also consider pudding the thermometers off completely. They are handy as a guide when starting out but if you consider that barometer pressure and altitude both affect boiling points of liquid dramatically you may be better off just running by gut feeling, nose and noise.
Maybe just try a run without the thermometers to see how it goes.

:text-+1: I ran my old spirit still with no thermo when it broke.I found it quite easy.I knew what the output stream would look like.I knew how hot the top and bottom of the condenser normally felt.I knew the roughlly how hot the output pruduct felt and the cooling water.
Iknew what the cooling water stream normally looked like.

With only one tap to adjust it was not hard to do.

And that was before on the fly taste and smell sampling

Haha yep had a few and this Samsung fone keyboard sux

Ive already ran a TPW through the still had no issues. Just keepted an eye on the outlet water with a laser thermometer and the flow of the spirit.
So all good no need to give shops cash for something that is not needed. ..

The flow speed of the spirit leaving a T500 is as good a guide as you will get, keep it slow n steady. Water flow speeds and temp really don't count for much.
