Awesome outcome, you are a lot more patient than I am, I probably would have messed with it to much and ruined it.

Nice work

had the other coil plugged onto the tap overnight and just tipped a boiling kettle of water over it to heat up the water and cause a rapid expansion of the tube. water started bubbling out and then sugar slurry blasted into the air about 3 meters. I should of got it on film.

Gday.
had a bit more spare time lastnight and got a box made up for the element wiring and sorted out my cooling water lines. The liebig will plug directly onto a garden hose and out of that into 10mm line into the condenser coil from there I will use it to water the garden at the moment. will eventually sort some type of recirculating pump out to use. I have fit an stainless steel compression elbow to the product line out of the liebig and eventually I will have a parrot hanging off that instead of the piece of tube. also I made a plate up with markings showing the valve position when its just at the stage when its about to open up like was suggested earlier.

one more picture of the cap I made to house the cooling coil. I machined up a band that fits over the 2 inch just nice then welded a 2mm thick disc on the top and polished it up.

Hey all. I started this still build about 2 and a half years ago and have only ever run a bit of water through it to test it out. Ive recently gained interest in running it again and after some reading decided to make a pot Head for stripping runs. So over a couple of nights I turned this out. 2 inch pot Head with a 450mm long shotgun condenser. The shotgun has 5 x 1/2" tubes and 1" water inlets and outlets for easy hose connection.

I fired up the boiler today and ran some water through it at full power (4.8 kw) to see how it ran. It knocked down all steam pretty easily with minimal waterflow. The last photo shows the stream of condensed steam from 4.8kw. Hopefully early in the new year I will get some time to strip a few washes then run it the reflux Head.

Thanks mate. Looking forward to giving it a run. Still have to churn out a parrot to direct couple to the end of the shotgun. Where abouts in Tas are you?
