copper supply

I went to a scrap metal dealer in Albury NSW and there were large bins full of scrap copper old and new. All sizes of tube with a price between $7 and $8 per kilo. I paid $25 for enough to make nearly a coil reflux still

Welcome johnich,

That's pretty cheap for copper pipe if it's new, only thing I dont like about buying from scrap yards is you just dont know what's been inside the pipe.... in industrial buildings where scrap pipe usually comes from, and can look new, copper pipe is used for a lot of different stuff from just water to gasses and all number of nasty stuff you wouldnt want in your still.... at the end of the day I guess it's what your comfortable with, but personally I have no problem paying full price for new materials price when it comes to my health ;)

Anyway, what sort of still is it your building? there's good info and plenty of good crew hear willing to help get you on the right track :D

Cheers.
