The last of my maiden UJSSM batch of corn whiskey I found a month ago, been aging on a few oak sticks for 12 months. Going down a treat with a few ice cubes and a good slug of dry ginger ale 8-)

Woohoo stumbled across a bottle that was given to me by a relative in Poland to keep me warm whilst snowboarding in Austria ;)
It's 60% moonshine with plums inside  Not sure how we mananged to plow through 4 bottles over christmas eve between two of us, but I do remember complaints from the missus about the alcohol permeating my skin and smelling like a homeless drunk :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

I just had a glass of a bourbon whiskey made from essence ages ago and it's actually not too bad neat. And that was after a Smurto's golden also! Although mine was with some homegrown hops.

Sounds good Andy.

I'm, doing an orange rum from a blend of two generations of feins steeped in orange zest with a 40 liter boiler charge and a thumper charge with the zest of two valencia oranges and a pine apple core.....Then a mild steep of about 4-5 grams of ever so slightly roasted lemon zest with the 750 of barrel strength.

Very pale yellow in color and just enough Huh Huh to make you say "what is that?". Fukk this is not going to last long at all.

Yeah I fool with em all the time.
The pith is very very mild compared to other varieties. I steep my feins with those skins when ever they are in season and don't even worry about any bitter carry over at all.

What's everyone drinking?

Postby BackyardBrewer » Fri May 11, 2012 7:13 pm

It's a weird one tonight: gin (home distilled) and lychee liqueur (sitting in the liquor cabinet for like 12 years!) and pink grapefruit juice. Not too shabby but very perfume-y.

Wife's choice... You know the saying: happy wife, happy life.

Essences or the real McCoy BYB......after spending half a lifetime hating the stuff Ive suddenly become addicted to it thanks to Draino and his Gin making
skills.
Funny old hobby this one.........I find my self drinking things I always disliked.....Loved Rum forever...hated Bourbons.....but now I'll walk past my Rum for a UJ.
