And yes I did de-prickle some, but there was only so many prickles that could fit in my hands and mouth :laughing-rolling: what was left on the prickly pear’s (if any) went into the blender.

Na mate treated it like a wine.
Bob9863 wrote:Actually now I've been thinking about things.

How do you find running the two same size thumper?

I'm not happy with the bubble plate I added to mine and I usually run a 50lt keg and a mini 4lt thumper set up as per the profile pic.
But I've got a spare 50lt keg and plenty of spare parts to make a 2nd 50lt thumper.

Does it weaken the flavour any and does it make it a bit smoother or just higher proof?

Yeah mate the thumpers work very well, as for flavour it takes it to the next level.

Even with my spare parts I couldn't quite get the second keg to line up, I might see if I can find a long thin 30lt that should be able to line up being thinner.

watchin the Dogs smack the crap out of the Saints while doin a spirit run on a MacRum

I am pretty happy about the Saint smacking, I am a paid up member and a Dogs AFLW player sponsor

This run started poorly though. I did not assemble my still correctly and there was a leak at a tri clamp union. Kinda panicked and made things worse

Bloody obvious in retrospect I know but do not try to correct a fault on a hot still. Thankfully it was not that bad but I just got a sense where things could have been a lot worse

I finally made the right call and let everything cool down and am now back up running and humming

Stillin' indoors

I am freaken done with that shit. Do you know how much of a high powered solvent ethanol is? I do and the varnish on my rental property kitchen floorboards does too. I just knocked over a jar of 90% rum hearts and pray to god I cleaned it all up. House inspection due on the 25th. Since I have been here so long at least I can say wear and tear

Don't worry. I have a 100% corn ferment to run that I plan to age on oak and pecan and new season rye malt is not as easily found as you might expect. Anyway, I only have another week of annual leave to go

First stripping run on the new 5 star setup with the new ibc tank and pump setup. Runs like a dream. Except for the puke from the molasses.

Just over ten hours of uninterrupted bliss. It has been far too long since I had some solid still time. Might set out a strategy for 200 litre BWKO with added rye ferments. I am drinking stuff 1.5 years old and the taste is amazing. Of course I don’t have enough so am thinking a 50 litre keg under the house for a couple of years will be just the ticket to set me up

A quick stripping BWKO run while listening to the pies v swans match.
Why a stripping run you may ask, simple answer is I want to watch the still but I won’t be able to concentrate with the beer flowing and the radio ( was going to say trannie but I did not want you guys thinking Bryan was here lol ) going. :laughing-rolling:

FFV wash = 23lt @ 10.2% final result was 1.9lt total and about 1.6 @ 89% ABV after some rough cuts.
First ever FFV and first time using a 65lt Digiboil with a 2 inch Ali Express CM attachment.
FFV awesome recipe the problems I had were not the fault of the wash.
Problems - Flooded the column due to putting a combo screen and seal at the beginning of the column. Had to halt the run and remove the screen reassemble and go again. The rolled copper mesh, SS scrubbers and combo of copper and SS SPP held in fine.
Temp - Yes I had been warned about the issues with the digiboil unmodified but in the the end I think it ran just fine apart from the idiot at the controls. Turned on all three to get to temp and in the end run with just the 1000W set at 105C with the tank temp sitting at 90C. Top of column was able to hold a steady 77C. Slow run but very happy with the results.
Will definitely look at integrating a voltage control to make life easier in future.

Spirit run of 45 litres low wines of BWKO across 3 plates.
Got the first three litres of heads, I will almost be finished by game time with a bit of luck
