Tassie Distillery Tour Recommendations

Postby markus » Sat Nov 28, 2015 6:20 pm

I'm gonna be in Tassie for about a week and was wondering if anyone could recommend a distillery tour.
I was thinking on doing the Lark or possibly the Nant.
If anyone has been or can recommend one , it would be greatly appreciated. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Both - you won't regret either :-)

Each have a difference in presentation - well worth doing both of them in my opinion.

I checked out redlands estate when I was down there earlier this year. They’ve recently moved but I doubt they've changed their whiskey making process. It was fantastic, and was lots cheaper than lark!

Look up Tasmanian Whisky Tours on facebook. It's a guy named Brett that runs multiple tours through the week of different distilleries. Depending which day you go you will go to different distilleries

Thanks lads.
I wanted to do the Redlands Estate tour but they are still in the process of moving their distillery.
Would love to do a full day tour but don't think the Mrs and kids would be to impressed
The Lark 3 hour tour looks the go.

Well if you can't manage a whole day tour, at least go to the Salamanca markets in Hobart on a Saturday where you can taste test (free) samples of Lark & Nant whiskies. There was also a mob there who did an awesome apple honey mead and a range of liquers.

I also recommend checking out the range of whisky at Destination Cellars (24A Barrack St Hobart), they have a wall dedicated to whisky where the chivas regal and monkey shoulder are the cheap bottom shelf bottles ;)

Can you tell I was there recently? :laughing-rolling:
