Hi all,

So I made an element guard and rolled the copper packing the other day, and soaked it in degreaser for a couple of days then boiled it in vinegar for a few hours and it seems clean.
Got a spare hour in the shed this afternoon and knocked up a parrot and product cooler. There pretty crude at the moment and I really don't know if I can be bothered polishing them for a while just a cleanup :D
Two 25l batches of TPW still bubbling away, I was really hoping to run it this sunday but by the looks of it i'll just be doing cleaning runs on Saturday.
Also a mate gave me a bottle of his bourbon brew (essence) it tastes like shit would it be ok to chuck in with the TPW when I run it?
If so I'll tell him it was real nice so he gives me a few more bottles :))

1 2many, I'm misunderstanding you. I was going to sling my mates 40% bourbon brew into my TPW when I run it. Or should I just leave it out altogether?

I can't really squash it much with my fist.
It's a few mm larger than the id and I'll have to "stoke" it in.

It's a bit hard to say mate, if your having dramas getting it in it's prolly rolled a bit tight I think ;-)

Haven't run it yet, but i assembled it all and filled it to the top with water to pressure test it.
I'll be giving it a vinegar run tomorrow and an alc cleaning run sunday. How long should i run these cleaning runs for?

I recon 15 to 20 mins and you should be good to go.

Once you get a couple of runs done and learn the little things about how your rig runs you'll be making some great neutral, so now the build bug has got you what are you going to do next ? I reckon you should build a stripping rig to compliment your boka, your boka will love running low wines ;-)

An easy flange below the slant plates, a couple of elbows and a shotgun and you'll have a pot still stripper for your Boka column, and the start of a 4" bubbler ;-)

Ok so cleaning run is done I think.
Made a diary of times temps and abv. Then I chucked all my collections bare the fore shots back in and played around with take off rates n wot not. I wanted to do it again but collected it all till the temp went from 78.2 to93.5 in a matter of 30secs.
So I'm going to run 45l TPW in the morning, I've read kiwis tillers guide to cuts and fractions and don't know where I am.
I want to learn cuts.
So do I start with take off or full reflux?
Fores- what's a good start 300ml 500ml
Cuts- 100ml 200ml 300 what's a good starter

Good shit mate

You will need to reflux to equalise, bleed fores and open up a bit more for heads/hearts

Fores on a 45L LW run.. You're safe taking 300ml. The next few jars are gonna be shit heads any way.

I'd cut in 250ml lots, mark the jar and away you go.
Sou ds lile your still fractions pretty well so I don't think you'll have a problem making cuts.

Edit: just re read, if it's straight wash your running I'd reduce cuts to 150-200ml for the first go. Take notes and you'll be stillin like a pro in no time :music-deathmetal:
