Go 3 :handgestures-thumbupleft: love to see some more pics!

I have 3x 50mm caps with 40mm risers and a 26mm downcomer on Agrajag's plates. Can't comment on how they run though unfortunately :laughing-rolling:

:text-+1: on 3.
Try and make the dc higher on the side facing the caps to stop the bubles falling straight down the dc

"Try and make the dc higher on the side facing the caps to stop the bubles falling straight down the dc"

ok i will make 1 side higher, im thinking just bit shorter then bubble cap.
as for bath depth 25mm? or height of riser? hmmm all these little things to consider

I dont own a bubler but pretty sure the bath depth/downcommer needs to lower than riser. If it was the height of the bubblecap fluid would flow down the riser..

As bluc said, dc below the riser :-B
As for the one side higher on the dc, yeah I rekon if ots the same height as the cap it will work well. If not you can cut it down to suit.

After running mine in the weekend I was watching a fair bit of fluid being thrown down the dc as the cap was bubbling.

But there's someone here who has their downcomer higher than risers, can't quite remember who, might be one of our American friends, but I recall being confused how this could work.

Has been done but is not the norm, i think the build was an american chap, warramungas has done it also on his 2 inch bubbler and there are others, but for effeciency riser above the downcommer :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You guys are onto it would never have thought of that.
Hilzabilly thanks for the photo mate, makes it clear as day for me..

ok few more pic got the flanges done and a few reducers done all with the easy flange method.
Decided not going to put sight glasses on it to keep it in budget...... im thinking if im happy with whats coming out of the pointy end it must all be going well inside. :happy-partydance:

At this rate should have it up and going in a few weeks :D

Watching this build is gunna kill me :crying-blue:

Consider putting a sightglass on at least the bottom plate, you'll be able to see when tails are starting to come through and throw it back into reflux to get more hearts :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If you want it to have sight glasses down the track but not now because you dont want to buy 4 clamps and seals and glass you can add the tee part on now with an easy flange and get it flat.

Then cut a disc the size of the flange and get that flat also and then solder it on over the flange.

Then when you want to have sight glasses all you need to do is cut the disk part out which shouldnt effect the internals.

i wouldnt think the flange would be that thick if you make sure you get it flat as before the disc goes on it.

on another note it reminds me of my 4" build in the pics :)) no sight glasses also

Hey Fellas
Sorry for the delay in updates and build photos but no camera, no internet, serious infection in my left hand and a heavily pregnant wife slowed me down.
So working 1 handed through the night on a couple marathon sessions it is DONE! :handgestures-thumbupleft:
4"X180mm long deflag with 7X19mm inner pipes and 19mm outlets and 4"X620mm long product condenser with 7X19mm inner pipes and 19mm outlets!

Put it on a keg to leek test and a plate was shooting steam from in between the clamp when it was in full reflux, but that was easy fix.
Besides that, with 5 plates on the cleaning run with 40L of shiraz in the boiler it was pulling of at 91% pretty fast. That was at full steam on the gas burner.

This is gonna take some getting used to compared to the old "run it long and slow" pot still!
