Got sick of waiting

Postby Worthog » Sun Jun 20, 2021 6:59 pm

So I has a still spirits alembic pot condenser on my radar, having already forked out for the alembic dome, and it had been unavailable for many month (recently available again). So I decided to buy a blow torch and some copper instead, never having done any copper pipe soldering before!

I started by building a 65cm Liebig condenser pot still which can be used by itself, or on the Alembic dome.

I then thought - This isn't as hard as I thought.....so.....
I went on to build a 40 cm shotgun product condenser, and a 10cm shotgun reflux condenser.

So far, I have done vinegar runs and sacrificial runs on all components, and today did my first stripping run on the pot still, with a TPW. Very pleased with the result so far.

Love your work Worthog! This may be a stupid question, but did you use a soft silver solder or braze for connecting the copper? I'm like you & never soldered copper prior to deciding to build my own!
