TPW yeast pitching

Postby Big Kev » Mon Jul 26, 2021 4:34 pm

Hi
Being new and about to do a TPW ( no more Turbo wash for me) I have a question about pitching yeast. Do I just sprinkle it in the wash when at temperature or start the yeast in a glass container first and then stir it in when working? also how do I reply to someone on the forum? (I'm not that savvy here yet).
Thank you
Big Kev

I always rehydrate the yeast to get things going .
But you can get away with sprinkling on too and stirring in :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hi Big Kev
I always rehydrate the yeast in a large container. It can overflow a small container quite easily.

Cheers

personally I sprinkle a heap ontop of the wash then my paint strirrer attached to my cordless goes in and the wash is aerated for a few minutes and never had a problem

It's a personal choice thing I believe, I prefer to re hydrate.

if it's in a packet, i follow the instructions.
personally i like to re-hydrate bakers yeast in 30c water, when it tries to climb out of the glass after 10-15mins, i know it's alive.
(a sanitized glass & spoon of course)
