Guys I am still researching but after considering T500 and such, am now more focussed on bells and whistles. So something reflux, something shiny, something around $1500. Then I will want also to keep some character in the ethanol by using a Pot Still, either added or seperate equipment. Any comments and I am only slightly serious about the bells and whistles.

So have you already pulled the trigger on the T500 or considering pulling the trigger?

Hi Daveskis

I have a FSD 2" boka and pot. Modular so cost effective. Produces high quality spirit.
This is the thread about it.

Colour me Turbo 500. Yes I purchased an Alcoengine with Gin basket, 35L electric boiler with Copper Dome Pot Still. Getting pumps to recycle in to my 2000L water tank. Interested in Gin and Neutral Spirit. Want to experiment with the flavour I can get from the Pot Still for flavoured spirit to add to Muscat and Port. Also some distilling of botanicals for non-alcoholic mixers.

There is a great thread in the newbies section on running the T500 mate, have a look at that to understand what can be done

If you already have the T500 and Alcoengine with the copper dome then your set for making your own spirits and brandy.

If you want to try neutral then you can just get a 500mm length of strap tube and pack it with copper, it's not perfect but it gets pretty close.
I used the sane as that fir a while, you can even put a 2" sight glass and bubble plate between the dome and the Alcoengine, but you will need a weldless thermocouple to do that.
But double distillation and a power controller will let you make some very smooth spirits.

It's a good place to start out and gives you plenty of room to hone your skills before you decide if you want to upgrade, keep going with what you have or change direction.
The main thing with a set up like that is making the best Nash you can, kind of like making the best wine that you can, the better you start then the better the run will finish.
