Postby googe » Sat Aug 04, 2012 1:36 am

G'day, have been reading up about thumpers and have a ?. I think i understand that they start working when the temps reach the right amount to realise vapor?. If you start with a cold liquid in the thumper will the vapor going into it from the boiler raise the liquid level?. Hope im making sence 8-} . Thanks for any info.

Cheers

Yet it will, until the liquid in the thumper gets hot enough to vapourize.
then the vapour gets condensed bringing with it more flavour ;-)

What do you start with in the thumper just water or low wines?

Just a note for consideration,

thumpers add a degree of complexity to the build and incurr a heating cost to fire up. Orignally tried a smaller capacity version but got so frustrated with run lag times and the fiddle so i made the hybrid pot. Hybrids are far simpler if that's what you want i.e. a good thumper does add some eye candy value.

I'd also mention the abv gain from a thumper is not gigantic and I found a coil added far more abv pts and control over run.

Interesting bt1, i like hearing from people that have tried different things and can actually say, yes or no to how something works. Thanks for the info mate, might think twice now.
