32 Jet Mongolian

Unfortunately at my rented premises, running a still on anything over 10A for heating is going to be a drama.
I currently have a 32 jet LPG Mongolian burner on it's own stand & wondering if this would be ok under a 50lt keg for one of the FSD SSG 4 stills or if money permits, the 6" beast.
I will be looking at getting extra plates to increase the still to 5 or even 6 plates when I can.

that thing will eat a 100lt boiler with anything on it. So I think its safe to say your pretty right :laughing-rolling:

I use a 3 ring burner its rated at 30MJ/hr that mongolian 118 MJ/hr

thats 4 times the heating power :)) so you could do a 200lt boiler no worries :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I've 2 x Mongolians. I've gone back to a 3 ring, using a heat shroud as well.
Two reasons, Mongolian soot badly if not run somewhere near 2/3 to full so slowing down for a clean run is a PITA...and the gas use is over the top for the minimal gain in heating times.

I did have a couple of sooting issues when I used to use it for my All Grain beers on low heat.
I might look at a 4 ring burner instead.

Mate, I swear by them. I've got one under my boiler, never had a problem with sooting
Mind you, its connected to Natural Gas if thst makes any difference

Come to think of it Kimbo that is the normal application...sitting under a wok on natural.

regardless they are sooty on LPG, I tried adjustable pressure reg, seat height changes, even air bleed screw in intake, and it realistically is the same 2/3 to full on as clean as...otherwise its not good.

I assume the sooting means it is not running as "Clean" as it could but does it affect the efficiency?

If not I'm not too fussed, when you rinse the boiler flip it over and it a blast on the arse and it gets most off :handgestures-thumbupleft:

When I say i haven't had a problem, I mean that it doesn't bother me.
the bottom of my boiler is black from soot, but only the bottom. I never have any smoke/soot up the sides or in the air .
You can always detune your burner by removing some of the jets and replacing them with a bolt, that way you could run at full power to heat up and 2/3 for running (gunna be a slow heat up tho) ;-)

Can someone post a picture of their Mongolian setup? I just recieved the 20 jet burner from Auscrown, and it comes with no legs and no gas connection. It is very pretty lookin tho. I am excited to try it out. Will update about any sooting concerns.

Mate, i havent got any pics, mine came just the sama as yours, i just rest it on a brick.
As for the gas connection, you can just screw in a 3/4 braided hose. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Can someone post a picture of their Mongolian setup? I just recieved the 20 jet burner from Auscrown, and it comes with no legs and no gas connection. It is very pretty lookin tho. I am excited to try it out. Will update about any sooting concerns.

Here's my setup, except I only run it with 8 jets. In 8 jet config it gets 40L of room temp wash to product producing in a 1.5m 4" packed column in around 40 mins.

I'd strongly recommend a galv or copper pipe extension to remove braided connection from the heat source.

Hey man that thing would sit great in a tyre rim. I did this with my 3 ring just cut out a section of the rim wall to allow the burner to fit. Just google tyre rim burnervto get some ideas :handgestures-thumbupleft:

There's the difference LPG and natural gas are different. You need to change the jets for it to work efficiently on LPG.
I use the three ring burner, soon to put on a heat shroud and try out BT1's boiler heat shroud idea viewtopic.php?f=49&t=3652#p59176.
And a high pressure reg sounds good too.
My burner make heat in 50 minutes with no shroud and then I turn it down to one ring for the run.

So I'm off to get the bolts to modify the burners to tailor burner output, reducing available jets.

Any one have the specific bolt sizing/thread type.. checked Bunno's no luck
