2" vs 4" Keg Connectors

Just after some advice on are the benefits of modifying your keg to a 4" connector. I currently have a 2" CM relux and a 2" keg connection. However, I am planning to build a 4" bubbler and have seen some with the straight 4" connectors and others that have a 4" to 2" reducer so they can fit onto a 2" keg connection. Is it worth the effort to change over? I can solder but would need to find someone to weld up the keg if I changed it over. Any experiences, thoughts or opinions would be greatly received.

I changed to 4" purely for cleaning inside of keg and ability to add drains easier and whatnot :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You won't see any performance issues either way you go...

Didn't want to start another thread, butI've been looking at everyone else's boiler threads and I'm trying to work out what to do with mine. all look great with lots of options and ideas to choose from.

Is it worth having a 4" outlet to still (for upgrading to 3or 4" bubbler later) in addition to a 4" fill port on top (which might add sight glass to).
or just use the 2" flange existing and have separate 4" fill port for cleaning and access etc.
If there is no point then cheaper to leave it as is, but if I'm going to do the work now, I might as well do it all at once.

Obviously fitting on the side for element and drain and that's about it. hoping to double it as a home brew kettle also.

your input is appreciated. I have all facilities to do all mods.

When you really think about it your boiler is probably the one piece of equipment that usually stays with you through out your journey, so in my opinion it is worth setting it up properly the first time...with mine I can use it in any configeration, do it once do it right... :handgestures-thumbupleft: actually mine cut in half at the moment.

just a tip , if your going to go 2x 4" ferrules it helps if the heights are 2 different heights eg , 20mm and 60mm ,,, makes removal easier on the fingers

As far as still performance goes it makes SFA difference between 2" & 4" on a bubbler connection, for the 2" connection the vapor speed just increases as it passes through the smaller hole, then settles again as it enters the column.

We're not talking fluid or hydraulics here, vapor/gas works much different ;-)

Yep, if you're going 4" fill port I dont see the need to change the still connection :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Functionally there's no major difference, however I've noticed that my 4" bubbler sits much more stable on a 4" connection than it used to on a 4" to 2" reducer, just a thought.

I agree the 2" is a bit suss, with blockhead on 2" reducer inverted she has i little movement not a lot but for my piece of mind and far more stability i am going 4" :handgestures-thumbupleft:
