Sight Glass not so see through.

Has anyone got any tips for keeping your sight glasses clean throughout the run. This is the one on my boiler. It goes like this no matter what I'm running. And I have two identical boilers and they both do it. I've tried cleaning them and installing them dry. Cleaning them with foreshots and installing them wet or dry. Ideas? Was going to try windex but that shit is nasty. :scared-eek:

They clean up easy though.

Your glass appears to be covered in solids, have you considered/used anti-foam in your boiler?

I do use antifoam. Hence the scratching of ones head. ~x(

Just spit-balling here, too much volume in your boiler?
Do you see anything similar in the lower section of your column?

Try reducing your volume and see if the problem goes away, start with half the volume and if all good work your way back up.
I don't have a site glass on my boiler so I can't help you much beyond these few ideas.

Is anything but vapour hitting the glass? Really does look like it has foamed up hit it.

If not I would be trying another piece of glass, maybe some weird shit is happening with that piece.

I get condensation on the glass a bit but it never looks like that.

it's not the glass, wash is pretty dirty shit & so is the vapour coming off it..... just need to clean it after each run :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I found the more power you put in ,the more solids get in the still as well as further up ,pukeing and flooding usually happen when your crankin it .I see ya use gas ,try easin her back and see if the same happens.cheers hillzabilly

Did 2 x 49.5L runs of WBW in 4 hours :o
That included dumping thd first and then refilling the boiler and going again. I should have shares in BOC. :think:

Looks like I'll have to put up with dirty stinking windows.
Or poison myself with the ammonia ridden Windex. :silent:

lol well there is your problem!. Is it a glass on your boiler?

One good thing about that is you know thats whats covering the inside of your still. I had one burnt/rank batch and discovered my still have a layer of that brown burn on wash stain cleaned it up all good again :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Nah, my keg boilers are still spotless inside, although I haven't got a mirror out and checked the top. :think:

I have never had that happen with any wash, you must have some seriously dirty washes, have you had it happen with a TPW?

Yeah, it happens with all washes.

I'll get a mirror out and have a look at the top of the keg, give it a good scrub and see what happens next run.
Oh, and maybe not fill the boiler so much :? :? :whistle:
