Ladies and Gentlemen, is it possible to make Corn Bourbon in a Reflux Still or would I be better off to simply buy the Boka conversion kit to a Pot Still to fit my T500 boiler? Thanks

A boka can be used as a pot still :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The T500 reflux will strip all the flavour out of your corn wash.

The boka can be detuned but not to the point of running as a full on pot still.
Remove packing, turn up the power and slow the water a little but your going to need to watch very carefully how fast you run in pot mode.

Its a boka not a T500, VERY different beast

Nice one Stig. So what temperature should I see when running in "pot" mode.

Don't control by temp (I think this has been mentioned already ), control by heat input.

We are talking at cross purposes here. I do NOT want to control by temperate.

My question is/was "what temperature should I see?" on the thermometer supplied with the Boka. :angry-banghead:

I drive a motor vehicle and fly an aircraft and I always watch my instruments so that I know what's going on under the cowling/bonnet. The botanicals are much safer that way and my insurer loves me.

Your looking for a stable temp not a specific temp. It could be anywhere from 75- 90 depending on a variety of things. You want it to hold a stable temp right through the run till it jumps a day or two then you know tails are near.

Well found. The illustrations certainly look like reflux stills not very different from the Boka to my still very amateur eye.
