Wouldn't a decent triple filtered system at home give equally as good taste?

Dilute to 62.5%abv with the highest quality water you can get. I buy bottled spring water, and I’m sure rain water would be equally as good. I wouldn’t even consider using filtered tap water to dilute my all grain spirit.

Just curious, what makes bottled water 'higher quality' than filtered tap water from home?

I have always considered it better due to the consistent levels of Ph and also mineral contents, which seem to always fluctuate with tap water.

I could be wrong though.

You can buy 10 litre cubes @ Aldi for $4

I'm not a cook but I have seen corn flour in the shop. Would this work as a substitute?

If it is how about we keep this thread on topic, if you want to know about water make a thread. If you want to use flour instead of ALL GRAIN like the title suggest then start a new thread

Was your idea helping the All Grain theme? My guess is Brendan would shudder at the thought of that being added to this

And I don't think this recipe needs much development I reckon it will be in tried and proven once some others results are in.

Hi Brendan,

I made up a Grain Bill Conversion spread sheet, mixing together the Grain Bills, your sugar content for each type of grain and then average conversions (from viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5399).

The 1st draft of this spread sheet collating this info tells me you are going for a Makers Mark style Bourbon! Is this even close? Tried uploading but keep getting document type not allowed.

Hey Hava,

Makers was exactly what I started aiming for :handgestures-thumbupleft:

As we know, there are so many variables that it will never taste anything like it. But sure was a good starting point for my own :D

Email it to Stig and see what he can do ;-)
or you can send it to me and I will pass it on :handgestures-thumbupleft:

O.k, I ended up with 18 ltrs of strained mash with an f.g of 1.000, so approx 8%
This was from a total volume of 41 litres.
Will aim for a total volume of 50 litres next time & definitely have to work on my straining technique,
as I think that's where I lost out.
Came of the still smelling & tasting fantastic, so l'm excited about that.
This recipe has my vote for tried & proven :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Is it anything like a BWKO or uncle Jessie's as far as taste and smell off the still mate.

Can't comment on the BWKO as I have never tried it.
I have only done Uncle Jessies up to second gen & only once, so can only say that this a.g recipe
gives you more flavour & smell straight off the still than a second gen uncle Jessies.

My ex used to use one of these to make her own multi grain flour. Absolutely pulverises the grain to a fine powder/flour. She used it about 2-3 times a week for over a year and had no trouble with it.

anyone who shops through alibaba from a link posted here does so at their own risk, I know I'll never trust the bastards again after being ripped nearly $4k, and getting SFA support from them.

Wow that really sucks mate, sorry that happened. I have been using it for many years (although I am a Gold Member of Alibaba) and I have never had any trouble, I have even had faulty items replaced without sending back the dud. But you are right, "caveat emptor", the same goes for any shopping online I guess.

There is an Australian store you can buy them from for roughly the same price but I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it.

Brendan said "I get my cracked corn run through the industrial grinder at the local home brew shop at 0.25mm."

What happens if you crack it finer?

He then runs it through his corona mill to get it finer. The Finer the better
