Hi Folks,

Just wanted to check that the Vitamin B tablets mentioned are the Berocca type

And not the Vitamin B12

I put down a wash a few weeks ago.. Slow but definitely working (the cold temps here doesn't help). If you take hydro readings every few days you will see its slowly getting there. I'm down to 1015 today.

The wash tastes pretty nice! Like a lemon dessert wine or something.

So im guessing due to a change of yeast. This didn't work after it taking roughly 35 days to ferment out it still taste sweet and has a shitty taste to it.run a strip today seems fairly low yield maybe an infection since mandarin and orange ones worked couldn't see any growth but had some flying insects hanging around

I've been making a version of this Lemon Vodka for the last 12 months and have only ever use bakers yeast (lowans), its never caused me any fermentation or taste problems.
I find you need to get some heat into high acidity washers to get them to ferment, if that creates more impurities remove them when making cuts.

StilBorn did you put down another wash?

Mate no one condones flogging kegs here, read the site rules.

There are ways to obtain them legally.

Hi guys, really keen to try this next.

Is it worth doing as I'll be running it through my T500 reflux and worried I would lose all the flavour.

Im not saying to do the following with the T500 as mine shit itself with normal use :)) but...

What if you ran it with only 1/5 or 1/4 of the packing and had a lot of water going through the reflux coil to keep the ABV up and temp down at the top

The less packing will strip less flavor out but the ABV will be low on a single pass. Not sure how low, maybe 70% but thats purely a guess. maybe with a lot of water going through the reflux it may keep the ABV up and with less packing strip less flavor.

But... this may be too much for the T500 plastic cap... or maybe it wont be with the reflux up high.

Just my thoughts. Maybe anotehr T500 user has tried such things??

Thanks WT,
I'll see what I can find on the net. Although I am a bit worried I'll break/melt the thing but that could also lead to a 5 star purchase sooner than expected :D

I guess what you are saying is that if I were to run it 100% packed I would definitely lose any flavour?

Most likely. i havent done wash this ash but the idea of packing is to strip flavor so the less packing the more flavor you will retain.

If it was me and i didnt have a backup still i would not try it. Just thought i would put the idea out there but dont want to be the reason you break your still :))

Put a wash down last night but substituted the lemon pulp for the equivalent of freshly squeezed lemon juice and a few skins for good measure. Temps good, all seemed ok but no ferment. Checked the pH this morning and its at 3.9, so maybe too acidic?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
