Recipe Calculator

Postby Horn_Bee » Wed Jul 27, 2016 1:37 pm

Good afternoon everyone,

I wasn’t sure where to post this, so mods please feel free to move to the correct place or delete if this has been covered before/isn't helpful…

While looking through the recipe sections I noticed that there isn’t a standard wash size being used across the board, which is completely understandable but means that the recipe often needs to be re-calculated to suit the individual’s personal equipment (fermenter size, boiler size, etc.). Going from this I started to develop a calculator that can automatically determine the volume of material needed depending on the size of the batch you wish to make. I threw in a few of the recipes that I am interested in, as well as a “blank” page as well that allows any recipe to be added in and adjusted as needed.

The calculator can be downloaded here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B64deEV718hLTnpwdFFXbjRHcE0/view?usp=sharing

To determine the new measurements for the pre-filled recipes all you need to do is enter the size of the wash you want to make (highlighted in green), and the adjusted measurements will be displayed (highlighted in blue). For the blank recipe you just need to enter the ingredients, the original volumes, the size of the original wash and the size of the wash you wish to make (all highlighted in green) and the adjusted measurements will automatically be calculated and displayed (highlighted in blue).

I figured that I’d throw it up here for anyone who might be interested in using it. Please feel free to modify it and improve it as you wish! :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Nice job, just to point out to people you don't need to increase the amount of yeast, especially if you rehydrate.

G'day prawnz,

I made it up on Excel, but when you click on the link you should be able to either download it to your PC and open via MS Office or open it directly from the link through Google Sheets. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
