Hello from Eyre Peninsula

Postby VaultBoy » Thu May 23, 2024 7:30 am

Hi all, new stiller from the Eyre Peninsula. I've been reading everything I can for the past month or so and figure it's about time to say g'day.

My first stilling operation was 20+ years ago when I was too young to know better but figured I could make moonshine with mums pressure cooker and a length of silicone tube, it tasted like shit, I could barely get it into me but boy did it get me drunk.

Now with the wisdom of age and a refined taste I decided I need a new hobby so bought a digiboil and alcoengine Boka style reflux column. I've run a couple of tpw through with another 50l to strip today. Also got some tffv underway.

Thanks to everyone who shares their knowledge on here!

Jack.

I've been running it as much as I can since it arrived about 3 weeks ago. I've put about 150l of wash through it and have a few fruit liqueurs, limoncello and flavoured vodkas brewing already. Most of my gin botanicals have just arrived today and hopefully I will have a rum wash on by the end of the week... Feels like I'm falling down a rabbit hole :))

I fell into the deep end, without testing the waters at the shallow end long enough. 8-}
It is indeed a very steep downhill slope ... but geez, its a lot of fun. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :laughing-rolling:
