Help... I think I've. stuffed up

Postby Merlot » Mon Feb 10, 2014 7:37 pm

Hi Fellasnh
I think ive stuffed up,. I know plastic has no place in our hobby but... when I was transferring my last batch of late gen, (6+) ujssm of low wines to the boiler from my 20L stainless stockpot it was so full I had a brain fart and decided to use my racking cane which has a length of polypropalene (i think) tube attached to the copper pipe :scared-eek: . I didn't think about this until today ,about 4 weeks later when its getting close to drinking. The low wines were around 40 abv maybe lower.

Should I chuck it?

It tastes good, first wash tnat I have added lme

Apreciate your comments

Cheers

This comes down to how risk adverse you are mate and what you are willing to accept.

Personally it was only touching it for a very short period and it was low ABV, I wouldn't have any problem drinking it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Some would tell you to throw away every piece of gear it touched :laughing-rolling:

I'd say you'll be fine mate... Obviously not going to condone it or recommend you do it again, but when you think about how many home distillers (ones that haven't found this site, that is) store/age/filter their product in plastic, I think you'll be fine.

Others may think differently, but i'd have no problem with it...

Deepest condolences to your kith and kin :laughing-rolling: . Kidding , yeah mate not a choice idea but look as low wines I'm guessing it got re-ran through the still so in all seriousness I reckon you'll survive the experience :-B
